Personal Finance Tracking

April 19, 2010 § Leave a comment

Even as a consumer bankruptcy attorney, I have always struggled with keeping track of my own finances — I’m busy and don’t have time for all of the copying, tracking and categorizing.

For the last two weeks, I’ve completely shifted my entire financial life over to Mint.com.  It downloads all of my information right from the bank and it is all in one place, easy to look at and simply, wonderful.  It even comes with a built in budget that you can adapt after looking at your spending history.

Not to say I don’t have some beefs — transactions take a day or two to show up, although the balance on the bank accounts is timely.  Also, it doesn’t support my car loan, since my car loan was recently sold, but it is a hell of a lot better than not looking or tracking at all.

Oh yeah, it is free.
